All About Pets – Summer Camp

This pet care class for kids, ages 6 - 17, allows young pet lovers to take their passion for pets to the next level.

Whether your child wants to start earning money as a pet sitter or become a better pet parent, this hands-on course will make the difference.

The All About Pets summer program helps kids learn how to properly interact with, care for, and understand pets. And most importantly, students learn the responsibility of pet ownership and the importance of safety when working with animals.

Students will learn to:

  • Become a proficient dog handler and confident pack leader
  • Understand cat body language and successfully interact with cats
  • Provide all aspects of pet care, for a variety of pets
  • Understand a pet sitter's role and responsibilities to the pets in their care
  • Provide basic grooming for a dog and a cat
  • And much more!

This pet care class for kids is a week-long course, for 3 hours each class, during summer.

  • Dog Body Language 101
    1. Dog communication
    2. The social hierarchy
    3. Reading a dog from snout to tail
  • Dog Handling 101
    1. Becoming Pack Leader
    2. Properly & Safely Walking a Dog
    3. Interactions on the Walk
    4. Properly greeting a dog
  • Cat Body Language 101
    1. Cat communication
    2. Socialization
    3. Feral Cats
  • Cat Handling 101
    1. Properly greet a cat
    2. Safely pick up a cat
    3. Interactions with a cat
  • Pet Care 101
    1. Care for pets other than dogs and cats
    2. Following instructions
    3. Leaving a pet unattended

 

 

  • Grooming for Dogs and Cats
    1. Fur
    2. Choosing the right shampoo
    3. The bath
    4. Ear care
    5. Dental care
    6. Anal gland education
    7. Nail care education
    8. Blow drying
    9. Finishing touches
    10. Quick grooming

 

Additionally, we offer information about small business set-ups, for older students interested in starting a pet-sitting business. Enrolled students can request this information once the camp session has begun.

This course is exclusively being offered through the city of Anaheim. Enrollment will open in May.
